Useful resources when you need art for class
I am a stickler about having actual images of actual art, which more or less means most things from an internet image search are out. Fortunately, museum web sites have verified images with explanations of the artist and the work and the time period; and in most cases a download of the images are both high resolution and free! Here is a list of my favourites:
Metropolitan Museum of Art
Cleveland Museum of Art Cleveland also has a very accessible education department and pre-made lessons.
Tokyo National Museum This one requires a little more effort but worth it. Also, this museum has links to collections all over Japan, widening your search capabilities.
The British Museum
The Palace Museum Despite their best rebranding efforts, The Palace Museum can't seem to get away from it's common name, The Forbidden City. Like Tokyo, this museum requires a little more effort, but it is so much better and easier than it once was, so the outlook is good.
